At Twiga Travelcars, we do not build standard solutions. Building a camper body starts with listening. Where do you want to go? How long will you be travelling? Will you travel alone, as a couple or with your family? Based on those questions, we help you think through the right dimensions, body construction, weight distribution, access to technical systems and connection to the chassis. Our approach is preventive. We prefer to think things through properly in advance, rather than leave you facing surprises on the road. Safety, reliability and practical use always come first. To us, a body is not a half-finished product. It is the foundation of a travel vehicle that needs to serve you for many years.

Choosing a camper body means choosing freedom. You want a vehicle that suits your plans, not a standard floor plan from a brochure. At the same time, that freedom needs a solid technical foundation. On unpaved roads, in remote areas or during long journeys, the body must be able to cope with movement, weight and changing conditions. That is why Twiga Travelcars looks at the complete picture from the very start.

A well-built camper unit has a major influence on the sense of calm, warmth, light and practical comfort you experience later on. Has the insulation been properly thought through? Are the windows, doors and hatches in logical positions? Has enough attention been given to ventilation, storage, technical systems and future access for maintenance? These are the choices you notice every single day while travelling. That is why Twiga Travelcars looks beyond construction alone. A body needs to be strong, but it also needs to create the basis for a pleasant living space.

Over the years, Twiga Travelcars has built many different camper units. Some were fully fitted and ready to leave, while others started as a camper body where the owner took care of part of the interior fit-out. The value of custom work becomes visible in the long lifespan of these vehicles and in the stories our ambassadors proudly share.

Marco and Lisette came to Twiga Travelcars with a clear idea of what they wanted from their expedition vehicle. After years of cycling, climbing, sailing and camping, they were looking for a mobile basecamp from which they could continue their outdoor adventures. They chose a MAN HX60 with a camper body built by Twiga.

The body measures 5.10 metres in length and features an aluminium frame construction with a steel subframe. The subframe was cleverly integrated into the floor, helping to keep the overall height of the truck as low as possible. For Marco and Lisette, it was especially important that the technical foundation was sound and suited their travel plans. From there, they were able to shape the expedition truck into the vehicle they had in mind.

With a camper body, everything starts with the choice of chassis. The base vehicle largely determines what is possible. Some travellers come to Twiga Travelcars with their own chassis already in place. Others mainly have a travel plan and would like advice on which vehicle would suit that journey best. Both are possible.

Of course, we build, prepare and repair vehicles, but preferably we think things through so carefully in advance that problems on the road can be prevented.
