“The Twiga team created something far beyond an expedition vehicle; it is our home on wheels.”

During our working lives, we were fortunate to see much of the world. When we had the chance to reshape our lives, a longing arose that went deeper than simply “going on holiday.” We no longer wanted to experience the world fleetingly, constantly checking in and out of hotels – we wanted to truly live it. Closer, slower, more consciously. On an adventure in Canada, we rented a camper – and that feeling of freedom, of waking up wherever we wanted, captivated us immediately. That’s when the idea was born: we wanted our own vehicle, one that truly reflected us and our way of traveling.
We began searching for inspiration and visited several expos. At Abenteuer & Allrad in Bad Kissingen, we met Twiga Travelcars. The first conversation felt warm and familiar; a few months later, we returned to discuss the project in more detail. We left with more questions than we had arrived with, but one feeling remained strong: this was the team to build our vehicle. The trust was there from the very first minute.
From that moment, we began thinking seriously about how we wanted to travel. We didn’t want a large vehicle, but we did want everything we needed to travel fully self-sufficiently. Comfort, safety, and adventure all had to come together in one truck. Naturally, this brought challenges, but the Twiga team guided us patiently through every decision. They listened, offered suggestions, provided guidance when needed, and made us feel that this process was truly collaborative.
Our base vehicle became an Iveco Daily 4×4, purchased in May 2022. Due to the war in Ukraine, delivery was delayed until May 2023, but that didn’t stop us. By the end of March 2023, construction of the living unit began. Almost every month, we drove to De Ooij to watch our dream vehicle take shape step by step. Raw materials transformed into something that increasingly felt “ours.” Despite delays, one feeling remained constant: we were in good hands
On February 1, 2024, we picked up our expedition vehicle – it felt as if we had been handed the key to a new chapter in our lives. After two days of instruction, we set off. First, a week in Germany to get used to driving, living, and working in our camper, followed by ten weeks in France to fully master everything. The real adventure came later that year: a journey through Morocco with Expedition For Trucks. There, among mountains, deserts, and endless landscapes, our vehicle felt completely at home.
Since then, our Twiga vehicle has appeared at two expos, where we proudly shared our experiences as ambassadors. It is a special feeling to inspire others – because we know firsthand how important trust, craftsmanship, and confidence are in a project of this scale.
Now, a year and a half later, and after more than 40,000 kilometers, we can say with full conviction that our vehicle has captured our hearts. The Twiga team created something far beyond an expedition vehicle; it is our home on wheels. A place where freedom, comfort, and adventure come together, inviting us to keep exploring. Working with Twiga was warm, personal, and professional. They transformed our wishes into a beautiful, personalized final result.
And this is just the beginning. We started in Europe, but Africa and the Americas are high on our list. Adventure calls, the world waits – and our Twiga vehicle is ready for everything that lies ahead.
